@gerrymcgovern hmm. We also talk to imaginary friends, animals, plants and rocks. One of the most famous poems in the Italian language is the poet addressing the moon. With respect, it sounds like pearl clutching to me.
@alberto_cottica good point. I've talked to animals and trees all my life! I think with the machine, and with AI in particular, language loses that possibility of the divine, of true warmth and connectedness. We are now in a world of something that is always fooling us, always tricking us, always lying
@gerrymcgovern I feel you, but... no. Machines can be our friends. Ancient heroes named their swords, helms and armors. Some of those objects were enchanted. Many more will be. I (and maybe you too?) dislike greed, exploitation and dehumanization, not machines per se. I do not have a problem with neural network as tech, but boy do I loathe the people and organizations behind "AI". Take away the profit motive and it goes back to a utility.
@gerrymcgovern you personally are also working harder than most (than me, for sure!) against a mighty tide. I am grateful, but try to stay well away from burnout.
