A clarification: Trump didn’t rename Lake Ontario. He directed the executive branch of the US government to lie about the name of Lake Ontario. This is not unusual. He orders his lackeys and subordinates to lie about all kinds of things. It’s still Lake Ontario and Trump is still a liar.

@MikeElgan To put Trump in perspective as to craziness, there's a colorful character who lived in San Francisco and who also made numerous proclamations - the Emperor Norton (1818--1880). He once sent a letter to Queen Victoria proposing marriage. She ignored it.
While perhaps equally crazy, the Emperor Norton was far more admirable: he went to an anti-Chinese rally in 1878, stood up on a small box, and ordered the crowd to disperse, challenging the guy running it.
Just remember that whenever they do a moronic stunt like this it's to capture the news cycle while they do something infinitely shittier behind closed doors.
Pay attention to the other hand.

Some of those bigots, like the ones on SCOTUS and GOP Senators, are ranked highly enough to make many more of us, like federal employees, the people in the military, companies dependent on federal contracts, and companies regulated by the feds - they have to play along with this village idiot to survive.
