@tomjennings Aren't they lower case?
On my Dell laptop, { is shift-[. But that's just keyboard stuff.
ASCII67 does show them, actually, aligned with "case", eg. where a is A + a space (20hex, ascii ' ') { is correspondingly [ + 20h.
I just went through the PMATE (MATE, really) 3.21 manual, that I've just 'found' on IA after @bitsavers uploaded it recently, and it state casually { } are upper case [ ] and it just struck me as funny, but it is literally true.
why do you hate ( and )?
