Naw that Shock team was an all time fun experience. Basically, at the exact time they managed to raid another team for 2 older stars that were big and physical players, two of their draft picks that were also very physical hit - AND they hired a coach who used to be the dirtiest player in the NBA.
So basically the Shock played "Dee-troit Basket-baalll" better than even the Pistons. It was fucking amazing. I miss those players so much - Ford, Cash, Riley, and Nolan. Worst to first. Glorious.
Like, when the Detroit Shock took the court, you could see the fear in the other players' eyes. It was like "oh shit, the TOUGH girls are here at the park today."
The only player who could handle that team was Diana Taurasi, basically a Goddess in women's basketball - she was not intimidated, very annoyed at her teammates for being intimidated, and it might be blaspheme to say this as a Shock (RIP) fan but I thought she was the best player in that finals. (actually phoenix did beat us - 2003 and 2007 blur sometimes)
