It's not even that secret. Go onto *any* platform with freelance "jobs" and it's almost all AI training. They're paying you roughtly 1/2 of what you'd make otherwise doing a real job, doing a fake job that only exists to tweak generated output. Yep that's right: everytime you generate a design or a video or a working code artifact, the reason that happens is not *merely* due to mass training datasets, but because thousands of human laborers behind the scenes built or evaluated similar solutions.

In theory, I could stop trying to find actual real clients, and instead just get paid (somewhat decently but not that great) critiquing and editing AI-generated output. Hours and hours and hours a week, endlessly looking at slop and noting what's "good" and what's "bad". My decades of experience and good judgement, being used solely to adjust weights and grade outcomes.

It's shit work for shit companies. Sure, maybe it beats working at a landfill or digging trenches. But still, it's awful.
