Sad that the successor project to Vim — a project which loudly encouraged its users to donate to a charity to help AIDS victims in Uganda — has become an advocate for white supremacy and ethnic cleansing. There's never a bad time to learn more languages. From what I understand, Python and Elixir are both similar enough that the learning curve wouldn't be too steep. Python is older than Ruby, and appears to be more widely used.
But you can deepen your understanding even more by learning at least the basics of a few languages that are totally different from any you already know.
@strypey I tried Python a couple of decades ago, significant whitespace just doesn’t work for me. Elixir’s alright, but too niche and not useful as a scripting language.
I’m aware of other options, and my own available time and energy, and the gain is not worth it for me at this time. And it’s not like I can literally only write code in Ruby, it’s just that that’s where I have the experience and gaining it elsewhere is not a trivial thing.
