I'm a bit surprised about the success of the Switch 2 (they sold 25 million or so of it), I can't get myself to buy one because I really don't know what the point is over my OG Switch that works fine. It's not that Mario needs 4K super-high res textures.

@thomasfuchs They're not going to get me until the next Zelda. That and the occasional Mario Kart are basically all my Switch 1 has been used for. And then as a bonus I'll also do a replay of remastered Ocarina.
@thomasfuchs I don't like that the Switch 2 is bigger and heavier (esp bc I play holding it while lying on my back bc health issues). But as time passes, more newer, graphically ambitious games come out that the devs will never struggle to get running on my wonderful orig Switch. No rush bc I can't afford it but I will get one whenever it is I can.
@thomasfuchs I feel like it's inevitable that I'll end up with a Switch 2 eventually. I love my original Switch so much. But I agree right now it doesn't feel like it needs replacement. Give it a couple years for the catalogue to build up.
@thomasfuchs spouse and I both have a Switch and Switch 2. They're our Expensive Pokémon and Zelda machines.
The Switch 2 is wonderful. It plays the old games better, the new games good, and improves on every single aspect of the Switch. It has a trustworthy kickstand, better controllers, and runs all the Switch games better.
I've been considering using the Switch 2 as a way to experience some big titles I passed on, rather than upgrading my PC.
@thomasfuchs I got one. It runs one game I play so much better which was welcome. The bigger screen and better kickstand are also good.
My main by-product is that I then gave my old Switch to my (older) sister who'd never played with a console before. It was like a revelation. It has given her bonus interactions with her grandkids (she gives tips on ACNH). Now our auntie has a Switch and she plays with her grandkids. We've sort of turned into a Nintendo ad of generations playing together!
Not that it actually has a new Mario game
