DAB+ radio is definitely a massive improvement over analog quality-wise. Thanks to the multiplex, I can now receive my favorite stations in my far countryside :)

There's a massive drawback though: as soon attenuation gets a bit too high, playback just stop and then resume instead of the nice analog degradation. When driving around some hills or any kind of relief, it tend to happen quite a lot.

There's no duplex connection, so no playback: no easy way to implement a buffered lecture for radio manufacturers.

So, in the end, the best way to listen to radio in the countryside is still via your phone over LTE.

All that money sunk in DAB+ emitter/receivers for people living in the countryside/mountains seems to be pointless.
