Ahhhhh an unfamiliar bird call heard through the window while brushing my teeth, but then when I was done I couldn't hear anything anymore. Who was going "to-wee"?? Must sit out on the deck for the next hour in hopes they come back...
@idzie@kolektiva.social I guess not, according to my bird books, Towhees of various kinds are spread all over the US, but none of their calls are to-wee.

@jaypeach53 this was the call I heard, I feel quite confident https://xeno-canto.org/1077973
@jaypeach53 which to me is a "to-wee"?
@jaypeach53 oh and I'm not in the US, I'm in southern Quebec, so the very northern edge of the eastern towhee's range, which is why they're uncommon here
@idzie@kolektiva.social a Towee?
@jaypeach53 ...they're very uncommon where I live so that never occurred to me, but I just listened to calls and absolutely, what I heard was an eastern towhee!! Thanks for solving the mystery haha, now I'm even more desperate to see them (would be a lifer!)
@jaypeach53 and if you were joking rather than it being a real suggestion, it's even funnier because you were still right 😆
