you know, one reason I prefer the original graphics of Star Trek: The Original Series, rather than the graphics from the remaster, is that the original graphics were not only charming/quaint/etc.
they were INTERESTINg. they were made at a time when you couldn't do CGI
all of this stuff had to be figured out and solved by some very smart people, and that work is just erased, completely obliterated in all of its unique, quirky beauty, replaced by a revision, as if their work doesn't matter
its art and its just gone in the remaster
you not only don't get to see their work, but you also don't get to experience what folx in the late 1960s saw. you can't compare it to now, you can't wonder how it was done, you can't see its connections to other media at the time, etc.
the cultural web that the show existed it is less tangible in the remaster than it was in the original, and if you have a chance to watch TOS with the original graphics, do so
it's superior, if only because its true to itself, not to a corporate vision of yet more money
