Shogun Assassin is the english dub of the first Lone Wolf and Cub movie, and I am of the opinion that it is an improvement on the (admittedly excellent) original, thanks both to the narrative re-framing brought about by the narration and the absolutely buckwild delivery of most of the dialog.
The score is hopping too.
If you want a slower, more serious version of the "roaming ronin is a superhuman killing machine" archetype, I can also highly recommend the first of the Zatoichi films.
They're about a blind swordsman, and perhaps even less serious, but also told much more seriously.
