The cassette deck adds a sound device to the system, so you can enable 'monitor mode' and listen to the horrific screeching of the tape audio if you are so inclined.
it sounds a lot like a modem. probably because it basically is.
Adding various cassette types from C15 to C60. When you load a wav file the smallest tape that will hold the sound data will be assumed.

the main point of this is to enable reasonable seeking since most titles are only a few minutes long, so having a slider with a range of 60 minutes is a bit much
We can now play, pause, fast-forward and reverse as well as scrub along the entire cassette.
All of this is routing through the emulator core. All that's left to do is emulate the PPI wiring - the cassette monitor, relay control, all that good stuff.
any tape experts in the house? How fast was fast forwarding? I have it just set for 10x at the moment.
@gloriouscow depends on the deck. some more advanced decks can do it really fast but sense the resistance/inertia of the spools and slow down again before hitting the end of the tape to go easier on it and prevent snapping
