If property legally comes with responsibilities ("Eigentum verpflichtet[...]", Art. 14 (2) Grundgesetz), then why is there no automatism to expropriate irresponsibly handled property? E.g. if I as a landlord leave a house standing empty, why do I not automatically lose ownership over it, rendering squatting it legal? If I as a supermarket throw away edible food, why do I not lose ownership over the "trash", rendering dumpster diving legal?
These are rhetorical questions, I know that the capitalist system has no interest in expropriation of privileged people / companies. But it seems like it should be achievable within our current system & society, whilst still having a revolutionary / utopian vibe. Perhaps something worth fighting for?
