Notably, Red Army soldiers were the first to arrive and free the survivors at Auschwitz on January 27, 1945.
Troops from the 100th and 322nd Rifle Divisions of the Soviet 60th Army (part of the First Ukrainian Front) entered the camp and found 7000 survivors in the most inhumane conditions.
