Maybe if we hadn't allowed 4+ years of rampant infections by a systemic virus that wreaks havoc on immune systems, the flu seasons wouldn't be hitting as hard.

@pezmico I have no more words for such incompetence from our so called leaders, be it politicians, public health officials or school principals.
They could make the flu vaccine available for free today. Even if that would cause a short-term supply shortage, it would be better than overwhelming every single hospital in the motu.
Why don't we hear anything from the Deputy Director-General of Public Health?
The media is also doing f*ck all to inform the public about prevention. I emailed multiple channels at RNZ last year when the flu season was extremely long to get them to talk more about ventilation, no response.

We need campaigns on tv and other media to remind them that we've done it in the past, we have the tools and we know already what to do.
It doesn't have to be 'learn or suffer'.
Definitely. But the deliberate demolition of our public health service and chronic understaffing hasn't helped.
