@Gargron Is there a way to see a sample of the feed of the artists (or anyone) in a given collection?
i.e. not just a list of the accounts but view of their feeds? I trust your list but also want to see each artist's feed to see if I would enjoy following them (something I do with most people before I follow) - for stuff like if they boost a lot vs have original posts or if their content if NSFW (I don't mind that - just want it tagged so it doesn't show up on my feed when browsing in public)

EDIT: nevermind, i just reckoned why i don't use lists:
a list sets up a different stream and timeline with only the accounts listed. you don't see those accounts on your regular flow. you’d have to switch to each list stream to see what’s posted.

am going to be a stickler for precision when answering tech questions; especially from the end-user point-of-view.
comparing it to a feature in an app i have never used is not helpful. it also doesn't answer the question of what am supposed to see as the key difference between the two.

@blogdiva @gunchleoc A collection is just a collection of profiles you can curate and share with others. There is no feed like there is with a list. Lists are also private.
@Gargron @gunchleoc right, so they still appear on my timeline and don’t get moved out into the list’s dedicated stream.
so TL;DR:
1. a collection is just that, like an album of accounts you curate
2. a list is an actual technical feature for changing how your timeline works. you create a list to separate those accounts into their own timeline stream. you have to unlist them if you want to see them in your default timeline stream.
