I'm not sure whether to be happy, amused, or sad about the Pew research. A lot of the negative feelings about 'AI' that they're reporting are because people believe OpenAI and Anthropic's marketing about the things 'AI' can do: it can obsolete their job or it can become fully self-aware and decide to kill all humans.

This is one of the big problems with a lot of the VC ecosystem at the moment. The messaging you need to give to investors to make them like your company is almost the exact opposite of the messaging you need to give to customers to make them like your product. This disconnect is incredibly stark at the moment, which is a pretty good indication that market capitalism is not working.

As you pointed out in October of last year, AI users tend to score higher on the dark triad in personality tests.

Last January I looked through the sources, redid some of the statistics, and confirmed this is both statistically significant (by Spearman correlation \(\rho\) & \(t\)-test) and had medium to large effect size (by Cohen's \(d\):
