The email that made history.
On this day, 35 years ago, a student in Finland sent a message that he was working on a new project that "won't be big and professional".
He was wrong! The project became both huge and professional.
This is how Linux came into existence.
It started as a hobby project, turned into a Master thesis, turned into the backbone of internet, cloud and AI.

I remember in college, back in the late 80's, my professor gave the class an assignment to edit the Minix kernel. It had to do with tweaking the calculation of memory availability prior to allocation. It was a simple thing but quite fun.
I smile every time someone mentions Minix.
