@codinghorror Now I'm sad. That article mentions something called "the smackdown learning model", but the original typepad article is no longer with us. We only get your praise (in two separate blog posts) but not Kathy Sierra's (original?) explanation.

I don't trust my judgement enough to try and reconstruct the model purely from contact.

I cannot recall how many times I've used this just as a way to invite proper argumentation for or against something. And I continue to use it... to this day.
