I’m not an electrician or a plumber, but running an extension cord through a storm water pipe to charge your EV seems like a bad idea?? Just don’t buy an EV if you’ve got nowhere to charge it

@decryption with the right cable it would be fine. Submersible pumps (portable, and the ones that go in a well tube) have cables that sit fully immersed in water, sometimes for years.
@wezm those pumps are DC low-voltage aren't they? or at least not 10A @ 240V?

@decryption How did they even thread it through the pipe in the first place?!
@decryption @layoutSubviews Use a wet/dry vacuum to suck a plastic bag attached to string down the pipe. Then tape your cable to the string and pull through.
Using a shopvac to pull string through 100ft of conduit. I was surprised it worked! #tinyhouse

@sjtrny @decryption Nice! Still need a conduit mostly clear of debris though, stormwater drains are notorious for collecting gutter junk and occluded by roots from thirsty vegetation.
@decryption My neighbour does something like this and yeah no way is the extension cord "fat enough not to overheat"
@decryption if it has a GFCI outlet it shouldn't be a problem. Also you should watch Alec/Technology Connections video about EVs (on YT)

@purserj that's a hassle to do regularly, so i get why they'd resort to this setup, but it just means they should sell the car if they aren't prepared to use a public charger
@decryption @purserj or be in the Netherlands where there are several kerbside chargers within less than 5 mins of your house almost everywhere! I thought it would be annoying but it’s absolutely great.
