I went looking for a TV show I enjoyed as a kid, while researching an upcoming project, and made a surprising realization.
Dozens of the shows I watched as a kid are either mostly or entirely unavailable on home video and streaming, and many of them have never gotten a home release of any kind.
I ran down a list of five shows that I wanted to look in to and found that one of them was currently streaming, 2/3s of one show was released on DVD more than 10 years ago, and the final 1/3 was never released, and the remaining three only existed as single VHS episodes, or have had no home release at all.
I wasn't going specifically for obscure shows. These were big, heavily marketed shows that aired on a major network between the years of 1995 and 2000.
I hadn't realized how thoroughly we were memory-holing recent media.
