It may not be known to many that Motorola began its business as Galvin Manufacturing, selling car-radio transceivers to police departments in 1930. They've got a lot of experience building hand-held radios, so these are likely to be durable.
@dangillmor The devices are not pre-installed but can be flashed with the operating system GrapheneOS – as it is handled with Pixel devices.

@dangillmor I’ve been using GrapheneOS on a Pixel 7 then a Pixel 8 Pro XL. It’s an excellent mobile OS despite Google’s efforts to hamstring it.
@dangillmor The magic words in that sentence are “security in mind.” The problem isn't security in today's cell phones: they're manufactured with the sole purpose of tracking and collecting user data—not intermittently and in an acceptable manner, but on a massive scale.
