Product idea: playground equipment made from static dissipative polymers so you don't get shocked when coming down the slide
@azonenberg static electricity shocks from your siblings waiting at the bottom of the slide is half the fun*
* for the siblings waiting at the bottom of the slide.
@azonenberg Back in my day (tm), in the Soviet Bloc, we had slides made out of sheet steel. And not stainless. They were often in a state of disrepair, with rusted-through holes, sharp edges, and all that. But no ESD problems whatsoever
Edit: pic attached
@lcamtuf lol i had sheet steel slides when i was little too, but they were aluminum or stainless and never rusted.
But no esd issues
@azonenberg @lcamtuf we had metal slides in Texas too, and no ESD, just third degree burns.
@petrillic @azonenberg @lcamtuf also in Australia. Usually sheet steel not stainless, but usually painted and paint rubbed off by the passage of countless arses which dramatically lowered the friction and gave a faster slide.
