I hope so, the ideas of not the code. One of the things I concluded was that the things we wanted to do in terms of composable small components and end-user programming really need finer-grained sharing and sandboxing than conventional hardware can do. This is why I worked on CHERI, because something like that is necessary for building systems where everything is easily programmable, documents carry code that can talk to a bunch of native languages, and the end result isn’t a system full of malware.

CHERIoT is a small-scale testbed for the kind of system that will enable something like Étoilé.
