i feel something approximating nothing when i read about new high end graphics API features. i think i used to find these things more exciting, but i don't really remember. the point of view where everyone will just buy new computer feels baffling when new computer hardware is too expensive and what it enables looks marginally better at best and worse on average

part of me thinks maybe this is a sign that it is time for me to move on from graphics programming as a career, but my silly OpenGL ES2 projects fill me with light. i know i'm supposed to see it as a pile of stifling limitations, but instead i look at all the things it can do just fine like they're paints, and it lets me paint with millions of colors. i don't feel meaningfully constrained by it at all.
