Idk man these new Android emoji feel like TEMU iOS. They’re so… shiny and unsettling. I’m sure I’ll get used to them (especially as they’ll likely trickle down into Linux distros), but I’m kind of bummed by it.

@cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family They look like they've been "refreshed" by AI. The color are off and the faces are a bit uncanny. The basic 😊 looks weird for no good reason at all
@egee apparently not; they did use “AI” in a contrast checker tool, but according to Google designer Jennifer Daniel, they were done by humans.
@cassidy oof. I try to use Microsoft's emoji set on Linux but I think my set is out of date, so I'll either need to update it somehow or find another good set... that isn't this

I wish I could swap the system emoji font out for OpenMoji without root.
At least I can easily use it on my linux machines.
