I'm not perfect, I'm human.

Acknowledging mistakes and learning from them is how we grow, and this one is on me.

The vocal, engaged community is what makes the fediverse special. Feedback, even the hard kind, makes Pixelfed better, and I'd rather hear it than not.

This isn't about me or my ego. It's about us, our communities, and building better spaces for the ones who need them most.

@bustikiller @andrewblasco@masto.es @vernissage @andrewblasco@luzeed.org @dansup The block was a mistake, I thought I pressed Mute and when I realized the mistake, I unblocked them.

The reason was stress, I wanted to ship a fix without seeing the notifications and posts because it was really hurtful, but that being said, there is no excuse for this.

The fediverse thrives because the community is so vocal, and engaged, and that's special. We need to embrace that, listen and fix.

We will do better. ❤️

@dansup Maybe it's time to phase out the block button. Muting already does most of what blocking does. The rest is make-believe, since blocking doesn't really stop people from reading your posts. The block button gives people a false sense of security, which is harmful.

@fathermcgruder That is a good point, but I do think we can improve what blocking does on Pixelfed (and Loops) to allow people to better curate their content.

Example: blocking on Pixelfed/Loops prevents them from commenting on your posts, I think that is super important, because you do need to have some form of control over your own comment sections and profile.
