Has anyone cared to ask under 16s whether they want to be banned from social media platforms?
"Nothing about us, without us" and all that?

In the Netherlands the Dutch Youth Institute (NJI) Has done that. Young people were very clear it was the companies making the problems.
@pezmico Given that most under 13s are on social media already despite the platforms not allowing under 13s*, I don't think what the government is proposing will stop anything.
Unless they want us all to provide ID to go online. That becomes quite a different argument altogether.
*My 12 year old daughter thought I was the cruelest person in the world for not letting her on social media until she was 13, and it did mean she was excluded. Her dance classes had group chats on social media and sent dances to practice through the group chats even though none of the students were old enough to be eligible for social media. It meant she would arrive at dance behind the rest of the class despite not even knowing what is was she was meant to have been practicing.
