@bagder Oh, this one I had missed. I hope none of the customer of $DAYJOB use smb/smbs URLs any longer, I think we touted it as a feature a decade or so ago... :-)

@nafmo it is only SMBv1 and basically no one runs any such servers anymore. Been deprecated by MS for a long time already.

I have a client who depends on this. Time to bust out my proposal for infra- renewal from 6 years ago (and bring it up to date) :)

@bagder Not questioning this change, but not finding any rationale for this change in the pull request I wonder if this PR really complies curl's self proclaimed high coding standards.
