As Roy Lilley (NHSManegers.net) rightly points out, the real solution to the NHS crisis is better preventative care:
'The best care is the care that means, eventually, no care is needed at all.
The question is not; 'where else can we put the patient?'
It is; 'what are we prepared to spend to stop them becoming one?'
Otherwise we'll simply become better and better…
… at doing the wrong things, righter'....
Public health & prevention are what we need to be investing more in!
@ChrisMayLA6 In theory, better preventative care sounds great.
But it usually involves public policy on a spectrum from preachy through nagging to coercive. Eat like this, exercise like that, do more X, don't do Y. Demand individual responses to systemic problems.
What's actually needed is radically non-medical, systemic approaches to public health. Facilitate healthy life, instead of preaching it. Safe secure housing for all. Infrastructure for active travel. Create allotments.
