Just discovered these absolutely batshit insane books by Janet Morris, a defense and psyops expert who spent her free time writing military fantasy smut that apparently sold millions of copies in the 70s and 80s. Now they are only available as print-on-demand. These original covers ... OMG WTF https://www.blackgate.com/2016/03/19/vintage-treasures-the-silistra-quartet-by-janet-morris/

@annaleen ooh! I really want to read those now
@annaleen Now I really need to know what a high couch is. A title? an actual cushioned chair? A place? This is killing me
@annaleen
These covers make Barbarella blush.
@annaleen I feel like a lot of 70s fantasy covers had that sort of vibe (tho maybe not to that extreme), if the book had a woman as a lead character. Here's a Michael Whelan cover for a CJ Cherryh novel:
@annaleen Apparently I read five of her books 40+ years ago, although the editions I read were lacking the Frazetta (style) covers. She also wrote set in Sanctuary FRPG setting. I remember absolutely nothing about any of them.
@annaleen very John Norman’s Gor series vibe.
