Finally getting to grips with #Picard (the #music library manager, not the captain… 🥲). Tried a few programs and Picard was the best, very pernickety but my mp3s are now in the best shape of their life, living it up on #Navidrome.
BUT. I’ve a fair few folders with 1-2 tracks only, where they’ve been badly matched at some point.
Music nerd Fedi: any quick tips, or am I looking at combing through em manually?
@meljoann idk if this addresses the part that's an issue, but to find which folders only have a given number of files, my first thought was to search in the terminal. Looks like something like this would do that:
```bash
find . -type d -exec bash -c "echo -ne '{} '; ls '{}' | wc -l" \; | awk '$NF<=2'
```
It finds directories, counts the number of files in them, and checks if that is <= 2 (you could change the number).
That's my only thought though — that doesn't address the quality of labels on the files or batch-edit them.
Definitely sounds like a nice project, and I like Picard a lot too!

@meljoann my advice is to do it an album at a time. Trying to do too much in parallel becomes a confusing mess to untangle, especially when it detects multiple different editions or gets confused by “best of” collections. Also you can drag items on top of each other to merge them together.

I have been obsessed with this the last few days. It has taken me aaaaages to get this far. I’m supposed to be taking the weekend off. I cannot. I must bring my music library to a state of perfection

@meljoann just reading up on Picard now, sorry I don't have any quick tips to help out, but I have been doing similar work using Yate (not connected to a database like MusicBrainz though).
It is tedious, but sometimes the work needs to get done. 🙏
@CCirco oh wow yeah, the MusicBrainz connection makes it a much nicer job. I had a quick look at beets (command line thing) which can draw from a few more DBs like Discogs, but ultimately preferred Picard
