TIL the Netherlands hides massive rubbish bins underground so their streets stay clean 🤯
@TheBreadmonkey such a sweet sound at 6am.
@TheBreadmonkey saw this 10 Yeats ago in Portugal
@TheBreadmonkey it’s a lie. It supposed to but it doesn’t work.
@TheBreadmonkey When I lived in Rotterdam they were always full and people put their trash bags and stuff that wouldn't fit next to it. Rotterdam is full of seagulls and stray cats and dogs, so...
@TheBreadmonkey I doubt we're the only ones, but I'm glad this impressed you. #notjustbikes
@TheBreadmonkey Which, as a side-effect, leads to people putting their just, next to the containers, a feast for rats and birds.
@TheBreadmonkey I'm living in the south west of France and the whole city is equipped like this. No garbage bins in the streets, we all bring our garbage to an place like this. I count 4 of them in a 300-meter radius.
@TheBreadmonkey Haha, I love it how the comments in this thread are literally like: "We also have them here in Sweden / Finland / Germany / Austria / Italy / Turkey / Canada / Spain / France / Switzerland / Portugal / Norway", while people from the US and UK go like 🤯
@TheBreadmonkey This seems great until: Someone before you managed to block the chute, and only a specialist can fix it.
Classical case in my neighbourhood was cardboard boxes. If some lazy person didn't bother to rip them into sheets, I could my self clear some space in the bin. But with those underfloor bins, you're prevented from helping yourself.
@TheBreadmonkey we had those in my town (near Madrid) but were removed not long ago, I don't know why.
They have these in Italy too, and they are fun to watch being operated.... as the video suggests
@TheBreadmonkey That’s pretty impressive!
