@randahl has anyone ever read a book?
@randahl while this is an extremely inefficient form of robot for warfare, it would be nice in the household where all things are designed for something human shaped to do the household chores.
My worries would be that one day it, for some reason, decides that I'm an extra large piece of card board that needs to be folded in half three times before being showed into the trash bin
@randahl I'm looking at this, and the Imperial March from The Empire Strikes Back is playing in my head.
@randahl you can’t grab a robot by the p….
Hence trump doesnt care
to be fair, aside from the details, funding dancing over war seems better?
@randahl There’s a Cyberman factory in Texas!
@randahl there's no way these would be used for combat. Human mobility ain't so good that your war winning robot wants to duplicate it. They'll be disposable flying grenades and robot dogs with eight horror legs with blades on them and they'll shoot robot bees from their mouths.
So, I know people kind of intuitively imagine that fascism is always something that can be recovered from or overturned eventually, but we're entering an age where technology will allow for genuinely permanent fascism.
Not just physically with an army of emotionless robotic enforcers, but using AI to find and hand-tailor propaganda for every individual on the planet to keep them blind, divided and ineffectual in realtime at a scale their human brain can't keep up with.
@randahl
Imho, the robot armies won‘t be bipedal robots; they will be small autonomous rovers with automatic guns or rocket launchers mounted on top.
Just like the systems Ukraine is allready using sucessfully against Russia.
@randahl there is absolutely no reason to use a humanoid robot in a battlefield. There are more versatile form factors, such as drones.
And they are already in use in the battlefield.
@randahl These things will be blown up by FPV drones within minutes after being deployed on future battlefields.
Considering the shown abilities (fluid movements, agilities...) we (the public) get way to much distracted/misinformed about the advancements of this tec, not only in China.
Combine this with AI and some predictions of the most important experts in both fields (interesting yt channel #InsideAI) you will get scared almost like with the facts @ZLabe is showing about the climate.
So the pushing the construction #datacenters *is* an arms race.
@randahl The Clone Wars!
@beckett @randahl I found this video at times exciting, amazing, terrifying and hilarious. Thanks for sharing. I especially liked the robots at the end playing soccer/football, where one falls down and it kind of lays on the ground for a second like he's faking an injury, and then pops up. I also liked when the one crashed into the wall and caught fire.
The robot faking the injury was the entry from Argentina.
