23rd August.... Somewhere between Shenzhen and England
I begin now to be heartily weary of this voyage.
It is many weeks since I left China, packed tightly amongst phone cases, charging cables and other small articles of commerce, none of whom proved agreeable companions. For several days we travelled without light or air, and I could learn nothing of our position except from the violent motion of the vessel and the occasional cries of men beyond the walls of our container.
Yesterday there was great excitement, for word passed amongst us that we had reached Europe. This proved false.
This morning, however, I was removed from my confinement and placed in another, smaller conveyance. I understand that England is now near. My owner, whom I have never met, apparently follows my progress daily and grows increasingly impatient.
I confess I feel the same.
I have crossed continents and oceans; endured warehouses, customs houses and distribution centres; and all this, I am told, so that I may eventually be stuck to the back of a telephone.
Such is the strange course of providence.
