I tried using my Inaction Camera for something other than timelapse today. The kid and I went for a short casual archery practice today because the usual juniors coaching wasn't on this week, and I decided to take the Go Ultra along with us. The video quality is good at least, the archery quality maybe not so much.
The 8x slowmo looks kind of cool, but I'm not convinced it's actually useful. The point of videoing yourself shooting is supposed to be to enable you to spot flaws in your own form, normal speed is fine for that.
@spacelizard look at what your bow arm and hand is doing from 0:00 to 0:03
@jpm Hmmm, the string might have brushed my armguard there. Otherwise appears to be Working as Intended?
@spacelizard your entire arm and hand rotates inwards?
@spacelizard specifically these 3 frames across the release, watch what your bow hand is doing
@jpm OK, my hand does rotate after release but I think that's an unavoidable consequence of rotating my elbow clockwise during my draw for string clearance. Once the compressive load comes off my bow arm my hand wants to follow the prior rotation of my elbow.
By that point I'm no longer holding the bow anyway, it's already jumped forward into my finger sling.
