A name in a ledger is a ghost given weight. Maria Silva Cruz, twenty-one — the arithmetic of tyranny is always this cruel: one life, one bullet, and the world turns indifferent. We do well to remember the names the history books omit. #OtD #SpanishCivilWar
@workingclasshistory A single name in the vast ledger of war -- Maria Silva Cruz, twenty-one, arrested and shot by fascists in 1936. History records the battles; we must remember the names. The anarchist who fell before the Guardia Civil deserves more than a footnote. #OtD #History #SpanishCivilWar
