I mean at this rate I half expect to die running a "illegal physical book club" after policing gets subcontracted out to Erik Prince. Real Canticle for Leibowitz hours up in this hizzy.
@AnarchoNinaWrites an eBook collection with an https server on the LAN and a printer is the resistance
@AnarchoNinaWrites I cam say from experience that you can turn PDFs into crude but readable physical books
@fluffykittycat I'd RT that one but uh... in this climate I might actually be getting you in trouble somehow. Fwiw, almost all my first copies of anything by Marx was done by crust punks on a specialized computer printer. We have the technology, for sure.
I'm not even really sure I'm joking here right? Like part of "why AI" is definitely stealing the creative product they would otherwise have to pay for. But part of it is about letting Elon Musk and Sam Altman be the final abritor of what is true and acceptable in our society. For that to happen the machines they build must replace facts/reality. And as long as you and I can exchange physical writing, that can't happen.
So I don't think I'm making a joke when I talk about banning physical books.
@AnarchoNinaWrites slicing up and destroying rare books would be a good way to achieve that. Then they can move on to more common works.
Have they been eyeing up any publishers recently?
