Not sure how old our airplane seats were but they had ashtrays.
Yes kids, people used to smoke on planes. I remember the joy when they put non smoking sections on flights.

@NunavutBirder I remember getting stuck in a smoking section on a five hour flight. I had a sore throat for the next three days.
@mlanger you could be in the non smoking section seated immediately in front of smokers.

Look at the shape and size of the engines.
That will fine you a clue as to the aige of the airframe.

Hopefully! Last time I was in a very old 737 with low bypass engines it has to be grounded as the ancient engines were leaking oil 🫤🤦♂️
