@mcc I understand they have an expensive system to run, but. $100 million being only a three year runway, for a company that has no income other than further VC investments, seems worrying

@mcc it‘s complicated (because the german tax code is complicated and keeping nonprofit status in germany is, in fact, a giant bureaucratic pain and smaller orgs lose it by accident regularly) but I think still just „inc.“ and Soon Maybe whatever the belgians use for nonprofits

From this, and synthesizing without nuance yopp's read of the Mastodon annual report with Stefan's paraphrase of a spoken comment from a livestream, I conclude one year of Bluesky life costs 15 times as much as one year of Mastodon life.
