This might be it for me on this platform. This isn’t any type of leadership.
I can’t see any future where this place becomes anything better with this person in charge.

@matthewcassinelli I’m not in charge
@Gargron You could’ve taken the opportunity to demonstrate leadership for this platform, and still can now even in reply to this, but I don’t see it happening.
I tried to believe in Mastodon, and I simply don’t anymore
@matthewcassinelli What do you want me to tell you?
@Gargron I don’t need to lay out for you how to own up to mistakes instead of deleting them. You can be your own man.
@matthewcassinelli I think you’re lashing out because deep down you know that continuing to use X is morally wrong and you’re wishing for an authority figure to give you the absolution to do it, and I’m not providing you that.
@matthewcassinelli I’ve followed Federico for something like half a decade on this platform. I’ve featured MacStories in screenshots and feature announcements. I believe it is kinder to him to let him know when he’s made a wrong turn than to silently move on, as it gives him a chance to course correct.
@matthewcassinelli Where would you go, Matthew? Bluesky or back to X?
@fahrni I never left X and have been active there every day since everyone else left.
This place actually has no idea what happens on the larger internet anymore, truly
@matthewcassinelli Understood. Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for showing us the fediverse, where you can still follow me.
Mastodon is run by someone with low impulse control, which means this isn’t the place for me.
@matthewcassinelli The way I look at is this. I try to be where technology enthusiasts are, whether it is on X, here, and or other platforms. I totally ignore what the leadership of that platform stands for. I personally think that if we can make a negative place better by us being there then we should all be there. We are all change agents on these platforms. (1/2)
I think people are so filled with hate and so polarized that we lose sight of what's important. The disabled community likes Mastodon because clients can be made that are more accessible. Some like X and Threads to reach more people. It just depends on your goals for social media. We just need to learn to be kind to each other again, and that would go a long way. (2/2)
@matthewcassinelli
@mikedoise I totally agree. By being present and engaging on X, we can influence the network to adopt more accessibility to help with that.
In fact, I’m going to go do that now to aid, because Nikita Bier follows me – and wouldn’t be if I hadn’t been present there the last few years
