I wanna start working out again. But I wanna go slow, so I can actually stick to it and not get super exhausted that I miss consecutive days. Any pointers are greatly appreciated!
@farah you will miss consecutive days, that is going to happen. rather than trying to hold back so you can keep an unrealistic workout schedule why not plan for missing consecutive days? Itβs more important to keep doing it than it is to stick to a schedule imo. two days a week, maybe three if youβre feeling ambitious, but really go hard on those two or three days, then forget about it until the next week
@farah bookmarked, because same here. stealing your tips, muahahahaha! π
@farah Do you belong to a gym? I'd suggest working with a PT. They can tailor a plan for you and make sure your technique/form is correct.
You need a plan when entering the gym (or wherever you're exercising).
@farah What worked for me was taking walks and slowly increasing both the speed of my walks and the length of them. Itβs a low-impact type of exercise that didnβt exhaust me the next day.
If youβre open to it, I recommend asking the @fittogether community what theyβve done to slowly get back into working out as well.
Theyβre a friendly bunch of folks who include people from a wide variety of fitness levels.
Iβm cheering you on as you figure out what you want to do!
@farah I started (after doing not all that much but doing it daily and then crashing in repeating cycles) with a physiotherapist who literally had me just lie on my back and breathing squeezing a ball between my knees every day for three months before he would let me add anything else. Building core that way built stamina, and knock on wood 18 months later, I've learned to pace and rest and have been able to add, find consistency, add a little more. It's a process!
@farah try yoga ...yoga with adrien or kassandra are good places to start
@farah thereβs an Apple Store app called β7 minute workoutβ. Sounds like an approachable way to start.
@farah Start slow. Trying to do too much too quickly will probably hurt you, and stop you from building the habit.
@farah@beige.party I recommend stretching on the bed and then doing squats while sitting on the edge of the bed; it's easy and effective.
