Protip: If you follow hashtags, you're probably aware people like to abuse the privileges. Mute the people or the instances who shitpost the most on the hashtags, and you can literally prevent them from injecting their shlock directly to your eyeballs at all via the hashtags. You can literally take the privilege away from them. (Not that escalating to a block isn't perfectly reasonable, too.)

But oh dear, if I try telling people this or making lists of people who do this so you know who to kick off the hashtags, they suddenly lose their fucking minds.

Like I don't get it. You literally abused an ability to be seen by everyone following a hashtag to shit all over it and essentially insult everyone involved by demanding their attention, entirely off-topic.

Fine. You have our attention!

Now the least we can do is take your photobombing privileges away! Some of us can, not even all of us! Just some! There are plenty of people who will still see your shitposting on the hashtags if they love such things or find it ironical and so, so funny or just don't follow any tags themselves.

The rest of us will moderate as we see fit. That's decentralized community moderation at work.
