You really want to know why kids are depressed and isolated? It's not social media. Or phones. Adults have created a world with fuck all future. No job security. No owning your own home. No real action on climate. Adults need to take responsibility for what they have done.
It's not just the lack of a future, it's the lack of a present for kids.
We've made it too dangerous for them to walk to school, we've made it do dangerous to run / bike around the neighbourhood with their friends, we've made recreation too expensive for many families, and those who can afford some recreation have to limit what their kids do.
@RantingCanuck @anon_opin It's not too dangerous. It's the same level of danger as when we were kids. Too many parents have just let the "if it bleeds it leads" media frighten them into cocooning their kids, to the point where those kids are scared of their own shadows.

At least in Germany this seems to be true.
In 1995 around 50000 children had traffic accidents. Currently it's around 30000 (both counts children below the age of 15)
This doesn't take into account that there were more kids in the 90th. So the difference is not as big as the graph suggests
