@TechConnectify it's good to hear about things like these. Our water heater is pretty new, but when it dies, this seems like a good way to move another appliance off gas.
@TechConnectify I have REALLY been wanting to get one of these since my water heater is in the garage, and its west facing so it could use another heat pump.
(and in the winter I can air condition the neighborhood to heat my water)

I have a lot of heat pumps (splits, dehumidifers, fridge, freezer, ice-maker, water heater...).
We all love when you talk about heat pumps.
But I'm pretty sure we also love a video about that Star Trek The Next Generation flipper.

@TechConnectify could your mystery cold water experience be due to the short run of hot water pipe exposed in the utility closet getting chilled?
Our heat pump water heater is just below the water line from the street with the exhaust blowing directly on it. Sometimes when the water heater has been running but we haven't been using any water for a while, there will be brief surprise extra cold tap water after a delay.

@the_sasswagon It's the exact same setup as it was before when it comes to the piping, so I don't think that can be it.

Maybe branch steam cycles, or psychometrics. Because hey, that darn wet/dry bulb temperature is aaaaaall about latent heat.

I feel like you should have every opportunity to talk about the refrigerant cycle, and this only continues that trend… I've been considering these for whenever the current water heater breaks, too, since the basement could use extra dehumidification.
