We owe you an explanation and apology about recent events at MacStories. A note from @viticci and me. https://mastodon.macstories.net/deck/@viticci/117134048567780192
@johnvoorhees @viticci first, this should be ON macstories
second, while I appreciate the explanation, there's still a lot left unanswered and it truly does not explain the need to return to a platform owned and controlled by Elon Musk given who he is.
are you so desperate that you'd be willing to give Musk business to grow your site instead of finding alternate marketing vectors?
this is extremely disappointing.
@johnvoorhees @viticci Geez you owe no one an apology for making a rational decision. It’s time for the tribalism to end. Proud of you guys.
@johnvoorhees @viticci Any community is only as good as its participants. If having you both on X means a healthier tech feed for me, it’s a welcome change.
@johnvoorhees @viticci thanks for the explanation.
Not all of us have the luxury of dying on every hill.
@johnvoorhees @viticci I understand the business realities. Go with God, but I will not be joining you on X. Hopefully you will continue to post on Mastodon.
@johnvoorhees @viticci "MacStories is precious to us", but apparently not precious enough to keep it a Nazi free zone. Safe to say the only time I will be hearing either of your voices now is on Connected, and that's very dependent on how @imyke and @ismh86 take this.
Not that it seems to matter to you but I urge you to listen to those who are hurt by your support of that platform in this case.
@johnvoorhees @viticci John, have you ever sent surveys to customers who didn't renew? I would think that retaining customers is better than purely replacing customers who leave. (Not that the options are mutually exclusive.)
@johnvoorhees @viticci This should be posted on Macstories, for everyone to read.
@johnvoorhees I want an answer from you too: https://keyboards.social/@_IanOfEarth/117134160999190524
@johnvoorhees @viticci
Best of luck with that. I’m sure the nazis will be pleased.
