Why I (still) love Linux

It was probably late 1996 when a guy showed me his Red Hat Linux system. I was intrigued and in a few months I saw an ad to buy it for $50 and the fun began. Many years later Ubuntu came out and I felt their concern to make it possible for folks to use it was the turning point for the Desktop. That was when my mom wanted it. She's 96 now and hasn't touched Windows in 17 years or more. She has stuck with Ubuntu.
@stefano Like minds and all that. Ha.
@stefano My thoughts on the topic are perfectly aligned with your post. Many many thanks for having expressed it so nicely!!!
Good point of view. Thank you for sharing it. It's interesting , even if I'm just a simple user, and not a software developer.
Maybe it's not the "year" of linux desktop, but perhaps the "decade" of linux desktop is ongoing ?
