Internet friends! Trying to get Navidrome going and I’m embarrassingly getting tripped up on the first step. 😅
Docs for macOS (I have Intel) say to download the binary:

From the release page:

But all I’m seeing are windows/linux/amd/arm/etc options. Nothing mac/intel.
Am I missing something?
@dcr so, this is kinda a funny inside knowledge thing - MacOS is called “Darwin” under the hood. That’s the one you want — Darwin amd64 (the modern 64 bit x86 instruction set is called amd64 even on Intel processors, mainly because AMD won the 64 bit crown with the original Athlon, and it stuck).
So you’ve got two history fun facts in some build strings there, and that’s not very user friendly. But there you go.

next time i see a seemingly irrelevant file type, i'll assume that's the one i need. 🤣
got music playing from several devices on my home network off of my personal computer last night. very cool! weirdly fun!!!
maybe this weekend i'll get a domain setup so i can do it from anywhere.
i bet after that i'll want a dedicated machine for it. already trying to rationalize that purchase. 😅

Maybe it’s time to ditch the Mac for stuff like Navidrome. Something like this? 😍🤔
@dcr yes this is a great option! Especially if you want something that sits there on all the time. Any mini PC will work, the N100 processor ones are a great balance these days.
