My library offers a "Book Match" service, where you write a little about books and authors you have / have not enjoyed lately, what you're in the mood for, etc.
You're given the option to just let librarians place holds for you, or for them to send you a list.
Either way, a real human thinks about your preferences, thinks about the books they know of, and gives you a few recommendations.
1. Libraries are awesome.
2. I will take this over an algorithm, for anything, any day.
