Torn between saving a bit after just dropping a lot of money (for me, not actually that much) on pens and ink and getting the least objectionable notebook I can find at the dollar store OR spending $13 on an actually nice looking fountain pen friendly notebook
There is a lot of sensory pleasure to be had with a nice notebook. And. Quite a lot of cheap ones work just fine, esp with the nibs and ink you told me about
Very seriously, my three favourites are: plain Midori A5, dots Leuchtturm (sp?) B5 and the actual cheapest lined A4 notebook from the office supply store. I only use F and EF nibs on the cheap one, and only plain ink (not shading, glitter or sheen) but damn, it is super satisfying and I never hesitate bc it was so cheap
@forestfjord thank you!! This is good to hear.
@idzie notebook, so you can enjoy your fountain pen!
@idzie get the nice notebook. Paper quality matters.
@idzie ...not that you asked for advice. Sorry! Sudden strong feelings about paper!
@alexhaist it's okay, I appreciate your strong feelings about paper haha 💚
@idzie @alexhaist I agree with Alex, tho the soft compromise here is if you have access to a Daiso, a lot of their notebooks are super smooth and very good quality for like three dollars.
@alexhaist I want a blank clairefontaine a5 age bag notebook (in either tobacco or green). The fact I'm being that specific probably means I should go for that 😅
Have you tried Claire Fontaine paper before? It's thick, satin smooth, exceptional for sheening ink. Many people love it. I certainly did in high school, especially for the French rule. But I'm now a hater; I need more feedback than that from both my nib and paper
